Column: Seoul's Public Safety: A Laughable Mirage as Deadly Accidents and Government Incompetence Reign Supreme
2 July, 2024
Last night’s car accident occurred at the heart of Seoul, which claimed nine lives, is a grim testament to the complete and utter failure of public safety in metropolitan Seoul and this leads us to the painful fact that Seoul is a failed city. After the Itaewon Stampede disaster, there was a glimmer of hope for improvement, but this latest catastrophe proves that Seoul is still a death trap.
Forget about "what if" scenarios—those are just comfort blankets for the inept officials responsible for public safety. The public wants real, tangible measures to prevent these deadly disasters in the heart of the city.
The incident might be tied to the infamous "sudden acceleration" issue plaguing Hyundai vehicles, with the culprit driving a Genesis. Hyundai, or "Hung-Ghi-Cha" (Lethal Weapon Motors), has a notorious track record of vehicles spontaneously deciding to become death machines, regardless of the model.
But let's not get bogged down by technicalities. The bottom line is that people are dying in a country with the world’s lowest birth rate. The victims of last night's tragedy were all male breadwinners, leaving nine families without their primary source of support. This, in a nation already rife with false sex offense accusations from drugged-up female accusers and a police force still operating with the ruthless mentality of a military junta.
The harsh truth is that this country is speeding headfirst into a bottomless hell hole where human lives are just expendable commodities.
