Muan airport's Deadly Design: A Call for Global Oversight After Jeju Air Tragedy

The horrific crash of Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 at Muan International Airport, where 179 lives were lost, has revealed the dark underbelly of an airport design that can only be described as "unbelievably awful" by aviation experts. The incident, where the plane struck a concrete wall housing the ILS antenna, wasn't just an accident; it was a direct result of criminal negligence by those who allowed such a structure to exist where safety should have been paramount.

The South Korean government, under what critics label an "ultra-right Nazi regime," has been quick to claim that the runway and wall were within standards, a statement that rings hollow when juxtaposed with the international outcry over this violation of basic aviation safety protocols. The Deputy Transport Minister's assertion that the runway wasn't a contributing factor is not just misguided; it's an attempt to shift blame from where it truly lies - at the feet of those who sanctioned this design.

What we need now isn't a hush-hush internal investigation but a transparent, international inquiry. The involvement of bodies like the NTSB, Boeing, and General Electric, as well as other international experts, could provide the depth and objectivity this case desperately requires. This isn't about pointing fingers but about ensuring that such a tragedy never repeats itself, anywhere in the world.

The concrete wall at Muan was not just a barrier; it was a death sentence. The families of the victims, the survivors, and the global community deserve to know why such a fundamental error was allowed to persist under the watch of those who should have been their guardians. This disaster must be the catalyst for change, demanding accountability from those who put profit or image before people.
