Politics: Moon Jae-in's Call for Expanding Support of The Democratic Party Falls Flat as Party Members Boo Him

August 19, 2024

Former President Moon Jae-in's video congratulatory speech at the Democratic Party of Korea's (DPP) national convention on Monday was met with boos and shouts of "shut up" from party members at the convention. Despite his message of unity and call to "resolutely reject intolerant and exclusive behavior," Moon's remarks were seen as hypocritical by party members, given his own alleged history of working with the Nazi Gestapo of South Korea during military junta era.

This former snitch of military Junta president had once again yet another cosmetic surgery

According to reports, Moon Jae-in has been accused of being a snitch for the Nazi Gestapo of South Korean military junta since his early political career. This has led some to question his commitment to democracy and his ability to lead the party.

In his speech, Moon called on party members to "stand with the people to save Korea from the crisis of regression" and to "expand support" for the party. However, his remarks were seen as empty words by some, given his own role in dividing the party and appointing Yoon Seok-yeol as prosecutor general, which ultimately led to Yoon's presidency and the party's loss in the last general election.

Moon's influence on the Democratic Party is expected to wane, much like that of Lee Nak-yon, another former leader of the party. The party's new leadership, including Lee Jae-myung, is seen as more progressive and less tied to the old guard of the party.

The booing and shouting from party members during Moon's speech was a clear indication of the divisions within the party and the dissatisfaction with Moon's leadership. As one party member noted, "Moon's remarks were just empty words. He has no credibility left after what he did to the party during his presidency and ever after ."

The incident highlights the deep-seated divisions within the Democratic Party of Korea and the challenges that the party faces in rebuilding and regaining the trust of the liberal Korean people.
